Full Bloom in the Champagne Region

June 14, 2023
Champagne Blossom

The vines are enjoying the sun and growing at high speed. In many parts of the Champagne region, full bloom has been reached and it smells wonderful in the vineyards!
We can start counting to find out the harvest date. June 12 + approx. 90 days = harvest begins around September 5, 2023. Depending on the weather conditions and the health of the vines until then...

The winegrowers are very busy in the vineyards! It is the time of "Palissage" The goal: to separate the shoots and hold them between two lifting wires. To do this, the winegrower pulls two wires through clips attached to posts and distributes the vine shoots between these two wires. This process is crucial for the health of the vines. It prevents the leaves from sticking together. This way, they can make the most of the sun and are well ventilated, which protects them from rot and diseases. Here too, the process is carried out entirely by hand. A lengthy task that requires patience!
