Champagne Agnès Corbon
Agnès is a passionate and delightful winemaker. As she says herself, "J'aime faire du Champagne, en boire et en parler!" (I love making champagne, drinking it and talking about it!).
Agnès runs a small family business in Avize, a Grand Cru of the renowned Côte des Blancs, producing 10,000 bottles annually from 3 hectares of vineyards.
After World War II, Charles Corbon, Agnès's great-great-grandfather, settled in Avize, where he worked for a champagne house. He acquired his first vines in the 1920s and then sold his grapes by the kilo. In the 1960s, Albert, his grandfather, and Claude, Agnès's father, took over viticulture. However, they did not produce champagne; they only sold their grapes directly after the harvest.
With the economic crisis in 1970, grape prices plummeted. Unable to find buyers for his grapes, Claude, Agnès's father, became a champagne producer himself. He then developed a genuine passion for creating champagne. Very early on, he refrained from filtration and enrichment, which "denature" the wine.
