Champagne Gautherot

Champagne Gautherot

The Gautherot family, based in Celles-sur-Ource, has been cultivating vines for over three centuries.
The vineyards are located on clay-limestone soils, typical of the south of Champagne, Kimmeridgian, rich in marine sediments more than 145 million years old, where Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc (a rare forgotten grape variety) flourish, giving the champagne elegance, finesse and complexity.

The champagnes come exclusively from the family's 14-hectare vineyard, which has been cultivated according to sustainable viticulture principles for several decades and is certified Terra Vitis ( since 2012), Haute Valeur Environnementale and Viticulture durable en Champagne (since 2016).

All work follows a demanding and responsible approach.
For over 10 years, no CMR products (carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic substances) have been used. Zero chemical weed killers: weeds are removed mechanically or by hand. The Gautherot family prefers organic and vegan operating materials and treatments.

A little history: Anselme Gautherot was the man who, at the beginning of the 20th century, when phylloxera had destroyed all the vineyards in France, replanted the vineyard with great faith and determination. Then Francois' grandfather René, mayor of the commune and buyer for the great Champagne houses, was one of the first to own a modern pressing facility. Francois' father André developed and improved the vineyards and made the brand known on all five continents from the 1960s onwards.

And François, the heir to this tradition and expertise, has been managing and leading the family business for over 40 years. Zoé, François' daughter, officially joined the house in 2018 and brings energy and a new perspective through her passion for the profession. Eva recently joined them. The two sisters are gradually taking over the management of the estate under the proud and benevolent eye of their father, who officially retired at the beginning of 2022. They are the 12th generation of Champagne Gautherot!

How to Find Your Perfect Champagne

Four simple steps to the ideal champagne for every occasion
1

Determine occasion

Consider the occasion for which the champagne will be served. Celebrations, an aperitif, or with a meal?
2

Choose flavor profile

Do you prefer fruity-fresh, elegant, or full-bodied aromas? The dosage determines the sweetness of the Champagne.
3

Recognizing Quality

Pay attention to origin, vintage, and maturation period. Prestige cuvées offer exceptional quality for special moments.
4

Perfect Serving Temperature

Serve champagne at 8-10°C. The correct temperature optimally unfolds the full range of aromas.
