Champagne Jean Plener & fils
36-year-old Maud is the seventh generation of winegrowers in the Plener family. Her father, Jean-François, regularly comes out of retirement to help and share his opinion!
In the 19th century, her ancestor Jean-Paul Rémy settled in Bouzy as a winegrower. At the beginning of the 20th century, his granddaughter married Jean Plener. Together, they formed the fourth generation of winegrowers in the family. They had a son, named Jean according to family tradition, who became the 5th generation. This Jean is Maud's grandfather. He was the one who decided to look ahead and set about producing his own Champagne. He was also the one who dug the cellar under the house. Another sign of his modernity was that he named his son Jean-François and not just "Jean"! However, both retained the name "Jean Plener Fils" for their production, a name that continues to this day. In the 1970s, Jean-François spent many months in Burgundy studying oenology, demonstrating that he had inherited the gene for modernity. Jean-François had three daughters, so no "Jean", and with the eldest of them, Maud, the adventure continues today in the 21st century!
