2022 Harvest: A vintage marked by abundance and quality.
One year follows another, yet they are never the same!
In stark contrast to the challenging year of 2021, this harvest promises to be an exceptional vintage. Climatic conditions have been favorable since the beginning of summer, with intense heat and drought periods punctuated every two weeks by not-too-severe thunderstorms.
Let's take the harvest at Champagne Jacquinet-Dumez as an example: 21 harvesters picked 80,000 kg of grapes over 10 days, filling 1800 grape crates, each weighing approximately 45 kg, which were carried both to the vineyard and the press. They drank 200 bottles of water in the vineyards, ate 9 cakes and 18 chocolate cakes, and 9 watermelons to quench their thirst during afternoon snack time. A wonderful 2022 harvest under a hot sun that will remain in the family's memories.
As soon as the grapes arrive at the pressing center, they are weighed and entered into a register noting the grape variety and the vineyard from which they originate. 25.50 hectoliters of must are extracted from the pomace, specifically: 20.50 hectoliters of Cuvée and 5 hectoliters from the first and second cuts. Since these musts have specific characteristics, they are fractionated and authenticated in the vat room.
