"My first vivid memory is the contrast between the exhaustion of the men and the magic of the bubbles."
I was sixteen or seventeen years old; it was my first harvest as a presser. It was the end of a long and tiring day of harvesting under a scorching sun. The harvesters and pressers were exhausted, covered in sticky sugar from the grapes they had picked that day. The atmosphere was heavy with fatigue, until the winemaker opened a bottle of our Champagne to celebrate the end of the harvest day.
What struck me was the instant change in mood, from the weariness of work to the lightness of celebration.
That evening, I realised that all the hard work, the sweat, and the years of waiting in the cellar had only one purpose: "to offer this moment of lightness and togetherness around Champagne." That's when I decided that I, too, wanted to become a creator of this magnificent product, "CHAMPAGNE."

2) Which bottle do you open to treat yourself without a special occasion?
"For me, Cuvée Mont Tibet is the Cuvée for spontaneous enjoyment. I don't wait for a special occasion to uncork it: its freshness and mineral structure speak for themselves. It is a wine that vibrates, carried by a delicate effervescence that expresses all the typicality and unique character of its origin parcel."
3) Imagine you were sharing a glass of champagne with a living or historical figure - who would be your ideal guest? And why?
"If I had to choose, I would share a glass with the Philbert family winemakers who came before me. Our house, founded in 1923, has seen six different winemakers since its inception."
We would talk about the life of the terroir, the development of our vineyard, and the wines they shaped with so much passion before me.
It would be a moment of truth: I would offer them my Champagnes, with my current vision, for tasting to get their opinion as experts and creators on today's Champagnes.
In this exchange between their secrets of yesteryear and my convictions of today lies the soul of our house."

1 ) Quel est votre 1er souvenir lié au champagne ?
Le Souvenir des Vendanges : «Mon premier souvenir marquant, c’est le contraste entre la fatigue des hommes et la magie de la bulle. »
J'avais seize ou dix-sept ans, c’était mes 1er vendanges en tant que pressureur. C’était la fin d'une longue et fatigante journée de vendanges sous un soleil de plomb. Les vendangeurs et les pressureurs étaient épuisés, couverts de sucre collant des raisins cueillis de la journée. L'ambiance était lourde de fatigue, jusqu'au moment où le vigneron a ouvert une bouteille de notre Champagne pour célébrer la fin de la journée de récolte.
Ce qui m'a frappé, c'est le changement instantané d'atmosphère, passant de la fatigue du travail à la légèreté de la festivité.
J'ai réalisé ce soir-là que tout ce travail acharné, cette sueur et cette attente pendant des années en cave n'avaient qu'un seul but : « offrir cet instant de légèreté et de communion autour du champagne. C'est là que j'ai décidé que je voulais, moi aussi, devenir un créateur de ce produit magnifique le « CHAMPAGNE »
J'ai réalisé ce soir-là que tout ce travail acharné, cette sueur et cette attente pendant des années en cave n'avaient qu'un seul but : « offrir cet instant de légèreté et de communion autour du champagne. C'est là que j'ai décidé que je voulais, moi aussi, devenir un créateur de ce produit magnifique le « CHAMPAGNE »
2 ) Quelle bouteille ouvrez-vous pour vous faire plaisir sans occasion ?
« Pour moi, la cuvée Mont Thibé est la cuvée du plaisir spontané. Je n’attends pas d’occasion particulière pour la déboucher : sa fraîcheur et sa trame minérale se suffisent à elles-mêmes. C’est un vin qui vibre, porté par une effervescence délicate qui exprime toute la typicité et le caractère unique de sa parcelle d'origine. »
3 ) Imaginez partager un verre de champagne avec une personnalité vivante ou historique, qui serait votre invitée idéale ? et pourquoi ?
« Si je devais choisir, je partagerais un verre avec les vignerons de la famille Philbert qui m'ont précédé. Notre maison fondée en 1923, a vu passer 6 vignerons différents depuis sa création. »
Nous discuterions de la vie du terroir, de l'évolution de notre vignoble et des vins qu’ils ont façonnés avec tant de passion avant moi.
Ce serait un moment de vérité : je leur ferais déguster mes Champagnes avec ma vision d'aujourd'hui pour avoir leur avis de techniciens et de créateurs sur les Champagnes de maintenant.
C’est dans ce regard croisé, entre leurs secrets d'autrefois et mes convictions d'aujourd'hui, que se trouve l'âme de notre Maison. »
